PHOTO STORY
Paris, France

I have a love-hate relationship with Paris, it is one of my favourite cities to photograph, Paris is lively, grungy and classy but with the all symptoms of a big western city.

These photos are from a quick 3-day detour during a summer break in London

I love museums and there aren't many greater than the Louvre in Paris. But better than that are sunny days when everyone is out, where bistros and cafes are buzzing in a world before covid. The best way to experience Paris is with a Parisian and in this case, Didier from my days in university took us to his local bar and favourite Confit de Canard spot, and suggested we check out Montmartre.

This was the first time I explored Pigalle and Montmartre, perched on top of its summit is none other than the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur, where I casually put €2 into a vending machine for a coin souvenir, and unknowingly started a collection of coins from places of worship from all over the world, I now have 9.

Outside of the Basilica, we found a spot by the stairs and watched the afternoon go by, taking in the panoramic (though cloudy) view of Paris. Surrounding the foot of the hill are countless cafes, biscuit shops and gorgeous homes with just as many tourists to match, taking a look back at the basilica on the way down I couldn't help but think how that someone might have forgotten to 'lock aspect ratio' IRL when scaling, IYKYK.

While 'Paris is always a good idea' there is so much more to France and my next visit to La France will hopefully include a scenic drive from Bordeaux to Biarritz.

BONUS I met a French couple (Philippe and Eva) who drove a camper van from Bordeaux to my hometown Penang, Malaysia but that's a story for next time, for now, follow their adventures here!
